Kickapoo River

You’ll start this 30 mile trip on the narrow meandoring Kickapoo River.  You’ll have views of bluffs in the distance right on up to along the banks of the river during this 9 mile stretch.  The Kickapoo is known as the "Crookedest River in the World" and you won’t paddle far to understand why.  You’ll put on the river at the Plum Creek boat landing just north of the town of Wauzeka.

Wisconsin River

Just south of Wauzeka the Kickapoo River empties into the Wisconsin River.  The Wisconsin will be wide, shallow and sandy compared to the Kickapoo River.  The tree lined shores will go on for miles.  The Wisconsin is where you’ll spend 1-2 nights camping on the sand bars in the middle of the river, an outstanding experience!

Mississippi River

On your final day you will be on the Mississippi for about 5 miles.  As you leave the Wisconsin River and head out into the Mississippi you’ll feel the difference in the current, an incredible experience.  You’ll have the choice of going through the Wyalusing State Park Water Trail or staying on the main channel as you head south to the take out at the Town of Wyalusing boat landing.

The cost of this trip to include vests, paddles, canoe and transport to the put in and pickup at the take out is $150 per canoe and you can take up to 3 days to do it.

NO GLASS, STYROFOAM or FIREWORKS on the River

It is illegal to be in possession of glass on the Wisconsin River. Assume you WILL be searched by the WI Dept. of Natural Resources. If caught you will face a fine of upto $749 for the possession of glass (beer bottles, jelly jars, mayo jars, wine bottles).

Fireworks are also illegal and punishable by fines. We are trying to provide a peaceful experience for our paddlers and the many migratory birds that we share the river with. Leave your glass and fireworks at home and save yourself the fine for being in possession of them on the river.
